ignition unit

hi everyone, does anyone know of an aftermarket replacement for ignition unit for an 85 gl1200a, all of the other stuff ie; coils, pulse generators test out, or am l stuck buying used electronics? it starts up fine, until reaches a certain temperature warmed up then it dies & when i try refire it, it cranks but doesn't fire and backfires at times any help?

If you really want to answer the question absolutely, you can find a can of component cooler at an electronics store or Amazon. Run it until it quits and spray the part you suspect of breaking down during heat stress. It should react to being cooled if you hit upon the right part. Component cooler spray is a wonderful diagnostic tool.

If you are going to replace all. Then take a look at c-5 ignitions. I put one on my GL1100 and glad I did it.


This is owned and operated by Paul out of their garage. USA made parts. AND very good customer support.
