I left Kamloops this morning for Vancouver to go see my new grandson when an hour on the road the bike suddenly lost power and stopped. After finding a friend to come and pick me and my Wing up I found that the fluid in the battery had evaporated and a wire by the starter relay had got hot and melted the plug. I refilled the battery and repaired the wires and all seems to be working good again.

Last fall when I took the battery out of my bike for the winter, I was shocked to see that it only had about 25% of the electrolyte left in it! I filled it back up with distilled water, and it seems no worse for the wear. So now I make it part of my regular maintenance check to have a look at my battery's levels.
