Axle spacer after removing rotor covers

Postby rperry@stfx.ca » Thu Jul 09, 2015 9:06 am

Hi,
I just removed the %#@%! rotor covers from my '84 Aspencade. I don't know if the installer put on a smaller spacer to account for the width of the two covers, or shaved the original down to accommodate the covers. If that was done, now that the covers are off, do I need a longer spacer (OEM) or can I feel secure using the one that's there now?

It's a true source of bewilderment what some people do. That said I find it hard to believe most owners would have the ambition to cut spacers down, I bet they just spread the forks and crammed those pieces of %#$@ in there.
I would not worry about it.

A great Goldwing mechanic up this way by the name of Jim Dart has found an OEM collar so I'm good to go.
