Information and questions on GL1200 Goldwings (1984-1987)

I seem to be getting a ringing sound coming from the drive side of my 86 SEI. It stops when I pull in the clutch so it seems to be drive related rather than engine. It literally sounds like the bell the ice cream man uses. I don't see anything loose. With the bike on the stand, when I spin the rear wheel in reverse I notice a squeaky sound. When I roll it forward it's quiet. I was getting a knocking sound at low speeds which went away for some reason which I believe is my u-joint. I was going to replace it but decided not to since they are no longer available. Anyone have any ideas on the ringing sound?

Without being there myself,I can only advise on divide and conquer.Remove the brake caliper assembly and spin the wheel again.If it's still there,pull the wheel and inspect the coupler splines,etc,etc.
