1200 front wheel

Postby franksquires » Thu Jul 23, 2015 1:07 pm

I noticed my 1200 interstate front wheel is not centered with the fender. How do I fix this?

I think I would pull off the wheel and look at it and make sure all the bearings and dust covers were there. Also look at the left side and see if the it is in the yoke right. there should be a groove there. Do you have a repair manual to see what all part go there?

I do thanks for the reply. I have only had it a couple of months and think it was slightly off when I got it, but then removed the wheel to have it checked for balance. I will go through it more carefully. I am also up to my neck in a 88 1500 repair...carbs and wiring. Glutton for punishment

wow, yes you are. I did not do that to mine. It looks likes a lot of little parts to have to not loose.

Is it the wheel isn't centered or the fender isn't centered? Take a tape measure or ruler and check the rim to fork clearance on both sides of the wheel. If the wheel isn't centered in the forks, that's a problem...
I am wrong as often as I am right concerning what is wrong with someone else' motorcycle without having seen the machine in person. Guessing with limited information, as to the source of the trouble, is sketchy at best.

Ahh Yes.. It is the fender and not the tire. Thanks saved me some time.
