Hello and welcome to the forum.
Price isn't bad at all in my opinion.
If you buy the bike you'd want to change the fluids and timing belts.
If the original plug for the stator is in place you can test the stator. Look for 3 yellow wire with a white 3 place connector near the battery.
You can start and run the bike with a battery, it just won't charge.

welcome to the world of wings and to this forum. by chance did the po have any maintenance records? $700 is a good price as long as you do not have to have someone else do your needed repairs. most everything you need to know how to get done on the bike can be found here or on a couple of other sites. happy riding. :D :D

Just got done pulling the engine on mine to replace the stator. I did a lot of work too it. Long story short I had to get a po boi conversion. It is not difficult at all to install. Just make sure you put all the bolts away marked and mark your fairing so you do not have to figure it out later. The worse thing I had to figure out when putting it back together was the end caps for the fairing. There is a video on you tube that shows how to do it. It is good because the guy had a few screw ups and you can avoid them when you watch it. Good luck.

you can, but I do not think I would do it. You would need to take off all of the cables and hoses to it. I think it is possible because you can drop down the engine once you take out all of the mounting bolts and left side bottom bracket. There is a video on you tube that will take you thru it but the bike is a naked 1200 gl. the biggest problem you will run into is wrestling the motor out of the bike with out dropping it on the floor. Get someone to help you or you are going to probably hurt yourself. Also take a bunch of plastic sandwich bags to put all the bolts and nuts into so you do not loose them. If you have any other questions I will be glad to try to answer them for you. Why are you pulling the motor?

Yes he has already pulled the motor and replaced the stator. Do not what other work he might have done while engine out of bike. He wants to reinstall motor with the carbs already installed on the motor. :D :D
