Gearshift harness

Has anyone every removed the harness that goes to the gearshift for a 1985 1200a Aspencade, my harness shorted out.

yes.....unplug from under shelter, remove front cover, unscrew gear indicator sender and remove.

Thanks, do I have to remove the radiator?

no just the front trans cover. you will need to drain coolant of course because water pump will come off with cover.
When you get switch out, you will see the roll pin in end is longer on one end than the other, the long side is to lined up with index mark on plate. It will make sense when you see it.

Sorry I was enjoying the labour day weekend and wasn't able to get started checking what is needed for the harness removal, question, in your last post you said to just drain coolant, do I not have to drain the oil as well?

yes, sorry that is correct, you do need to drain oil as well
