1984 gl1200 stator replacement

Post by bobberwing » Mon Oct 05, 2015 11:58 am

Ok, so I have my engine out of bike and am ready to order parts to replace stator. Is there anything else I need to check while I have engine out and back cover off? Also where is a reliable source to get stator and other parts needed?

Ricks Moto Electric is a good place to get good quality components.

Randakk is selling an uprated stator:

Clean out the starter clutch (on the back of the alternator rotor). If any of the rollers appear to have flats on them, they need to be renewed.
Do this mod on your scavenge pump: http://www.wingovations.com/scavenge-pu ... 4579471109
Check the condition of your friction plates in the clutch.
Good time to overhaul the clutch slave cylinder too.
Maybe replace the starter chain. They can and do break occasionally.
'Impossible' is just a level of difficulty! The only stupid question is the one you didn't ask first!

( Seriously, you haven't read all 115 pages of my http://www.wingovations.com website ?? )
