Thanks to all that contributed info from an earlier post about moving up from a 1200 Aspencade to a Gl1500 and wondering whether i could manage a bigger bike being a little guy at 5'4" inches tall and 165 pounds. i was at my local Honda dealer last week and for some reason decided to take a Gl 1800 for a spin. I knew the 1800 was a lighter bike than the 1500 and had heard from many people how well balanced it was and how its weight was deceiving once you started moving. I took the bike out for about an hour in mixed riding conditions....heavy stop and go traffic, some twisty bits and an open highway section where i could open her up a bit. My first impressions were , wow , wow and wow. I never really considered the 1800 because of cost and maybe the intimidation of a 6 cyclinder and the size of the bike. I then parked the bike next to my 1200 and yes they both appear very large and intimidating. Bottom line i bought the bike. i found it in some ways easier to ride than my 1200....engine smoothness, newer technology, clutch action, braking etc.... ... I found it more easygoing than my 2014 Honda Ctx 1300 which has the motor sitting higher up in the chassis and a longer reach to the bars, plus no wind protection..The CTX has the old St 1300 v4 motor in it.The 2010 goldwing has 86 thousand kms just over 50 000 miles and with my trade in of the GL 1200 and Honda CTX 1300 the difference was minimal.
Next concern trying to figure out right now if it will fit into the back of a Nissan Frontier for a trip down to California from Vancouver B.C. for a winter vacation in January.

That sounds kool. I personally would trailer the bike to Calif. Rent or buy. I was going to put my 85 Aspencade into my pickup 4x4. Glad I didnt. Rented a uhaul bike trailer just to go 200 miles. I think they would be to high above the cab....for me. And a pain to load and unload in a truck bed.
