secondary air supply moval how to?

Postby twocams » Fri Oct 30, 2015 2:31 pm

Is there a how to anywhere to removing the secondary air supply. Its a Calif model so a lot of crap. I know how to plug the holes on heads, dont know what has to come off or plug on carb manifold. i see there are some pros and cons. Anyone have any cons to this operational procedure? I have a factory manual so can figure some of it out I guess.

Ok thanks for everyone's response. Think I have it figured out. Its not a Calif. bike, but a 49 states. Just cause I bought it in Calif. dont make it so.

just asking, what do you hope to gain by removing the existing system?. if it works don't "fix it til it breaks". altering the emissions systems rarely prove any significant gains at all. I understand "de cluttering" but sticking to the "factory purist" mentality has a proven success history and if you ever sell the bike the next guy wont have any "WTF" surprises. "just saying". JT

The 4th car I bought was a 1954 Chev. for $75 in 1971 When I got back from Vietnam I had to have it smogged in Calif to get new tags. WTF there ain't no smog crap. Just a road draft tube and air cleaner. Back then all they had was a tailpipe sniffer. It passed. But since then any OLDER car, truck,Bike if its not to much hassle it comes off. Theres a lot of soot build up in all the pipes and holes in the head. So dont look like to me its working right. I bought it not running (5yrs.) and have to rebuild the whole fuel system. So while the intake is off and apart instead of finding out after it's on again and dont work..... And there ya go, something else I dont have to worry about if its working or not.
