New coil not firing right

Postby twocams » Tue Dec 29, 2015 7:50 pm

I bought a new set of Caltric coils. Also replaced my pulse generator. Im using my timing light hooked up to the plug WIRE and if pointed toward my face I can see the pulses. The coil for 1 & 3 is pulsing with an almost constant light which it should. The coil for 2 & 4 has a skip in the flash like a miss at times. So its not firing like it should. Now these were a real painintheass to replace am I missing something here. Any other checks I can make. I know pull the plugs and look at the fire. Sounds like a bad coil to me but what do I know. Any thoughts out there?

Twocams does the coil in question feel warmer than normal after running for a while ? if so it's probably between coil and plug if not it;s probably from the coil back ,, pretty much any coil will over heat if it cant drop it's charge to the plug properly , Also Poor grounds will kill any good party .. Just a though

Isn't 1&3 on the same side (right) and are fed from separate coils.?
If your strobe is poor on both plugs on just one side, first try to turn the clamp sensor 180° on the weak set.
The spark travels from one plug to the other.
