Rear caliper mounting bracket question

Postby twocams » Sun Jan 31, 2016 2:31 pm

After reinstalling the diff.and mounting the rear caliper things look a little weird. Wheel turns free, brakes seem to work fine. But the caliper mounting plate at the front end is rubbing on my new shock rubbers. And soon may tear the rubber. Can anyone tell me if its bent or is supposed to be like that.

Thanks

Looks like those new rubbers are kinda compressed , making a bulge and not sitting straight with the shock . Probably made out of more flexible stuff than the originals , were they straight before instillation ? or did they come like that ? look bigger around than stock .

Something doesn't look right? I'll have to look at mine this evening. That pic is from the rear looking forward on left side? Could be that 'stay' is bent in toward the shock?

I'm not sure what is going on with that brake line stay, maybe the stay is backward?

Thanks julimike,
Your 86 is a little different than my 85 but im going to take the caliper off. Turn that mounting plate so I can get a good look see. And then adapt and overcome. Can't be rocket science can it?

Don't think it's rocket or science, if it was I'd probably be lost....liftoff!
