I would determine if its a carb thats leaking and running down to intake. Take your fingers and run along the carbs and hoses and see if its wet any higher. There are "O" rings on the intake runners that could leak. Any gas leaks could cause not running right.
Check you plugs when problem fixed they could be gas fouled. And maybe why that side isn't firing right.

Thanks a bunch, in the process of boots before rebuilding the carbs. Just wanting to see how many times we have to install & remove them until we find the real problem at this point. I love to inflict pain on myself not . Will post what the problem turns out to be. Just so you know the old girl sat for 8 years.

What do your plugs tell you?

Could also have a fouled left side plug, oil fouled, improper gap.
At low RPM coil does not put out enough voltage to over come fouling at plug.
Higher RPMs voltage is higher and plug will fire?

1500? I guess I should say I havent been within 10 feet of the 1500 or 1800. Never really liked the looks of them I guess nor the cost. I had a GL1200 for 12 yrs and put about 50,000 on it. Now just got my second one. But if the 1500 has carbs it has an intake manifold it has gaskets or "O" rings.

Hey guys, I can take my hand and chock out about 90 percent of the left side and get her to fire. My friend & myself are hoping it is all vacuum. Starting with carb boots and some new vac lines.

After a good cleaning, inside and out, jets and all , New intake boots, and some vac lines seams to be running like a dream.
