Rotella oil question

Postby roadwanderer2 » Tue Mar 15, 2016 5:00 pm

hey guys, i've heard a lot of good reviews for the Shell Rotella motor oil and a lot of you wingers use it in your bikes. im gonna do an oil/filter change and wanna ask what weight should i use in my 1200 SEi? down here its not very expensive, maybe a couple bucks more. i also know it has much to do on your driving habits, which i do mostly highway riding, so im not sure what weight i should use. can someone give me any ideas?

I use the Rotella T6 5W-40. T6 is the synthetic.

Stuart - changed the oil in my '85 to Rotella T6 5W40 (like full synthetic). No issues. Up here though and on Vancouver Island, cheapest I have found is $43.00 plus tax for the 5 litre jug. Cheers

hey guys, thanks for your responses to my oil question i appreciate it. rednaxs, i'll remember to get the Rotella T6 5W40 for my next oil change. any advice on which filter would be good to use? i've been using a fram filter on both my wings. never had a problem with them, but if there's something better out there i'd rather use one that's as close to OEM as possible, or get one of those external filter adapters and get a chrome filter cover.

Stuart - I use K&N KN-401 filter, no issues so far. Fram 6009 also works.

I get Wix filters 24940 from O'reilly auto parts $5 US. Has both "O" rings. I see Rockauto has Wix 24940 for $2.15 US. They are on the internet. O'reilly didn't have in their store but had by next day.
