My interstate running hot

Have a poor boy alternator on my 86 interstate and it runs hot a lot can anyone
that have the set up can tell me how to help keep cooler when running it?

Are you saying the Alt. is running hot? Thats what they do, making electricity. If you have ever lifted the hood on a car, it's hot in there too.

No i mean my Temperature gauge stay close to the red zone and goes over in the red zone of and on!!!
can u help me how to make it run cooler?

Ray,

The alternator has nothing to do with the temp gauge as such.

It is recording the heat from your radiator fluid. If that gets too hot it usually starts up your electric fan/s.

Check you radiator and overflow fluid levels, and maybe if it hasn't been done - check out your thermostat, radiator cap, coolant hoses for leaks etc, and the heat sensor.
