Final drive oil

I have a 1986 GL1200 I and my question is can I use 80W90 gear oil in the final drive, or must I use 80W. I have a gallon of 80W90 on hand that was used in a previously owned vehicle and hate for it to go to waste.

80w90 will be great.

Responding a little late. :roll: I have found SuperTech synthetic hypoid lube is about as good as it gets. I've been using it in all bikes. FWIW
