quick question......will the front brake caliper brackets from an 85 1200 interstate fit onto an 86 1200 aspencade SEi?

Huumm I would think so but.... I would look up both part #s and see if they are the same. Just a thought here.

Stuart - check the parts fiche, if numbers the same could be a fit.

Stuart - checked the parts fiche and the parts and assemblies P/Ns are showing different. That is not to say that the parts are not interchangeable, just that Honda has cataloged them differently. Having said this, Honda is pretty good at keeping the numbers and parts the same if needs be.

My educated guess is the the SEI has vented rotors that are thicker than nonvented. therefore the calipers may be different in width opening as well as pad thickness. Something would have to be different. On the parts catalog on this site starting on pg 270 it looks like as long as it's an aspy ltd or sei your good.

first, thanks for all the info guys, i appreciate it. i could go to my friends salvage yard and take a look at the ones he has on an 85 LTD that might be the same.

im having problems with the ones that are mounted on my SEi. seems that the threads are stripping out on the upper hex bolt section of the brackets that bolts them to the fork tubes and im afraid they might work themselves loose while im riding. don't need a problem with them when i apply the breaks, so if they are a match i'll get them and mount them only my SEi.

Stuart - checked the parts fiche - LTD and SEI are the same mounting brackets. Hear you on the threads. Replacing the front wheel bearings and the right hex bolt came out quite easy, the left hex bolt took more time with the impact wrench. Will use anti-seize on the bolts and torque only to spec.
