I got my Wing last summer (a nice 1985 Aspencade). Had a few of the well known issues already dealt with - did an alternator conversion and replaced the original ignition coils with coils from an 1500. Last fall I ran into another problem (after changing the front tire at some tire shop). The plastic gear of the speedo melted down. Finding this peace seems virtually impossible in Europe and the shipping cost from the US or Japan is quite prohibitive. So after finding the exact schematics of the electrical part, I am playing with the idea to eliminate the mechanical part completely. To do that I need the exact number of teeth on both gear wheels ß the plastic one and the metal one. As mine was completely melted down I cannot count the teeth on the plastic one. It would be of great help if some one could count the teeth for me.

Where is the 27 tooth plastic gear located...inside of what?
