water pump replacement suggestions

Postby crimsonwing » Sun May 01, 2016 1:50 am

as some of you know i will be replacing the water pump very soon as there is a lot of oil coming from the weep hole, funny noises come from it. and when i tried to flush the cooling system there was no flow and it backed up and eventually just burst out quickly almost slashing me in the face. The water got all over the wiring and poured all the way down to the belt covers and radiator an sizzled quite loud, i hope i didn't burn any wires or anything. anyhow, I started this thread as there will be many questions asked along with pictures posted most likely. anyhow, I ordered some parts but i'm not sure if its everything i will need. I ordered a #2,3,8, two 9's, and 10 from westernhonda.com. is that it??I tried to keep everything OEM but from what i understand this might not be possible as some are discontinued. that being said, I was looking at the water pump gasket kit mad by K&L supply from cyclemax.com. does anyone know how reliable this kit is? next, Could a bad stat or bad stat switch be causing my problem? I might as well replace these while i'm there right? perhaps a bad cap as well? Lastly, I DO NOT WANT TO BE DOING THIS AGAIN!! anything that you can tell me to help prevent me from doing this twice would be awesome! I heard about the blow test for the water pump oring leakage. anything else?

sorry about that, i thought it would be easier if i put the part numbers for some reason. anyhow the parts I ordered are, one tans cover gasket, a water pump, one O-RING (37X2.4), two O-RING (23X2.1), and one O-RING (56X2.4) . I beleive im still missing the water pump cover gasket? I also realized the water pump gasket kit from cyclemax.com has extra washers and rings that i havent ordered yet. are these needed? should i just get the kit instead?
