Wind deflectors or bat wings.....

Postby twocams » Sun Jun 05, 2016 2:13 pm

I got some wing deflectors or what never they are called with my wing. Not on YET, but are they worth putting back on? The bigass windshild on the wing gets no air in cockpit. Think its bigger than stock (30"X30"). The vents are kinda hopeless. I like the tall shield just not the minimum air.

Are those the ones that go on the outer edges of the fairing? I think you have to drill holes to mount those. I would have a problem with that. My SEi is pretty darn clean and stock. I only rode mine a few miles before I tore it down but I did notice heat coming around my back. That's gona suck big time when it's 90 deg. Pretty nice on a cool morning or in October though. Like Mom says, "No Paradise On Earth"...LOL Mine has the OEM windshield, it is dead center of my line of sight. Also causes a lot of wind buffeting on my head. I will get a shorty replacement and stow the OEM one.

Are these things becoming collectors bikes? I wonder if Leno has one?

Those are the ones. But he used existing screw holes in the black plastic part. he is about 6' 4" + so he must have bought the tallest shield he could find at the time. No buffing here.

Put them on. If they are Baker air wings they work great. In the closed position they block cold weather and in the open position they allow air to flow into the cockpit area. They are nice to have when you start early in cold weather and by mid day it becomes hot. I use mine all the time. I also went to a vented windscreen for much needed air flow.

Ya that looks like them. Vented shield sounds good to.
