What are these wires for?

Postby rdhrcwi1 » Tue Jun 14, 2016 8:24 pm

While working to replace the rear brakes on my 1984 Aspencade I found these two wires cut in half (see attachment). I don't know what they are for. My bike seems to run just fine so not sure what they are for.

Thanks for your help.

It looks like a add on something.
I don't recall Honda using a twisted pair in that method anywhere on the wing.Especially near the exhaust and swing arm.
There may be volts on one of them so at least safety insulate them.

Is it possibly something to do with cruise control? That is the only add on that I am aware of. Cruise has not worked in the 5 years I have owned the bike.

Looks like those wires are part of your cruise control(markland ?). Connect the wires together doesn't matter which wire go together( I think). Wires go to an magnetic pickup and there should be six small round magnets on the rear brake disc, I do believe they are for tracking speed and send a signal back to the cruise computer .Connect those wires and you will probably have a working cruise control. Good luck
