Postby NBWINGER » Wed Jun 22, 2016 5:16 pm

Doesn't matter if key is turned on or off the display for the map of North America constantly flashes on my display screen.
Any thoughts why this mite be happening?

i have an 86 SEi with the travel computer also. mine flashes too with or without the ignition on, but only flashes what time zone its set on to let me know what time zone im in so i can set the time of day accordingly.

once you set the time zone with the time of day in your zone, the clock should not blink, but the time zone will blink to let you know what zone your in. the manual does not say if the zone map stops flashing.

here is what the manual says...."to check or change the time to a different time zone, push the clock button and watch the small zone map of North America. the zone that is blinking is the one related to the displayed time. push the button again, the next zone starts blinking and the time changes by one hour".

"NOTE: the display will flash if the (bikes) battery reconnected. it will stop flashing when you operate the CLOCK SET KNOB to adjust the time". not sure if that means the clock or the map, or both will stop flashing/blinking. the manual isn't clear on that.

im thinking this means that clock will stop flashing/blinking, but the zone map won't.

That time zone part of the travel computer is supposed to flash all the time. I bought an 85 LTD from new and that is how it always worked. Don't worry about that. It can't be changed.

thank you bellboy its good to know that for sure. shame the "book" doesn't elaborate a little more about that.
