'85 LTD Fuel Filter Replacement

Postby Rednaxs60 » Fri Jun 24, 2016 9:20 pm

The OEM fuel filter is all but gone, if you can find one. I have installed an aftermarket one - Beck Arnly - P/N 043-0897. It is considerably larger than the OEM:

I had read about modifying the bracket to accept the larger fuel filter. Modified the bracket and got a new bolt:

Installed the new filter. There was lots of room to do this and it looks good.

Cheers

my only complaint with these replacement filters is the chrome filter cover won't fit back onto it because of their larger size. i bought the Fram G3969 filter and im gonna install it soon.

still trying to get my bike started up, but thats a whole 'nother story lol.

stuart.

Didn't have any covers so there has been no issue. There is a bit of stuff in the bottom of the fuel tank' but nothing that needs attention. This filter will take care of small issues. Now that I have the fuel filter fitting modified, will be changing it more regularly.
