Gl1200a charging issues

Noticed a drain on my battery. Been about 3 weeks since last ridden. Trickle charged the brand new this season battery and fired right up. Checked volts across terminals and I am only getting 12.19 volts when running.

Checked the wires on stator all three are reading 4.5 to 4.7. So I should have 13.5 at least to the battery. Any ideas?

Your 12.9 is acceptable per manual, the charging voltage should start to rise around 1200 rpm. At 3000 rpm it should have a voltage of 14-15V, per manual.

At least do a inspection of the wiring involved with the charging system.Corroded grounds and burnt connections are common.Look at the 3yellow wires next to the battery and the R/R plug and it's ground lug(green wires).
Remove any add on lighting.The system is not designed to handle much more than OEM equipment.Add on LED lighting is reasonable.
DVM measure directly across the battery posts.
After start up,you should see the volts rise from the 12 volt range and peak close to 14.5 volts.This should happen at 3000 rpm after no more than 15 minutes.
Voltage measurements on the yellow wires are done with them disconnected and are measured as AC voltage.They can be lethal volts there at 3500 rpm.Take every precaution.
