carb jet needle - WHERE?

Post by DavidT » Sat Aug 21, 2010 7:02 pm

Did a search or two or three and can't find this answer anywhere. History- 86 GL1200A, been sitting about 6 years. One of many problems, could not turn throttle. Found the carb jet needles rusted. Honda lists them for $20 each. As I don't know what carb this is, I can't find them on the web from an aftermarket or manufacturer. So, does anyone know what the carbs are (model and manufacturer) on this bike? Or, where can I get a jet needle just using the bike info?

David, Here is a site that list the parts for your carbs. If it's a Calif. model there will be a sticker on the right frame near the foot peg that says so. I would think that if the needle jets are in this shape the carbs should come out for cleaning anyway. Once inside, the jet size will tell you which carb and needle jet. If I remember correctly there is a number stamped on the top of the needle jet where it mounts in the slide. Hope this helps. ... &A=41&B=27

Enjoy the ride. They are all good, just some better than others.
