Right mirror broke off

Postby twocams » Mon Jul 11, 2016 8:41 pm

Just came back from a nice 125 mile ride in da country. Turned to sharp into my driveway, fit the front brake ( i think) hit some loose gravel and..... Laid her on the right side. Broke the mirror off. Banged up some paint on the front edge of the fairing. :o Can these fairing pieces be removed to repaint?
Can't seem to find a mirror that DOESN'T have the chrome backing. Need a good right mirror with plain black plastic backing so I dont have to buy 2.

Well twocams, looks like you and I are in the same boat so to speak. I was getting my bike off the centerstand in the garage, I have a linoleum tiles on the floor and they are pretty smooth and it's quite difficult to get the bike off the centerstand due to little grip. Anyway, I finally get the bike off the stand and sure enough the bike goes right instead of left, and the RH mirror hits the plywood I have stacked beside the bike, and it breaks off. Anyway pulled off the chrome mirror off the Limited for now until I find a black replacement.
Try Canada's Motorcycle, they have Emgo replacement mirrors, around 50 buck Canadian.
Has anyone purchased these replacements, really would like a review of quality level.

That SUCKS. Mine has damage on the right side also. Fairing is busted behind the right mirror rubber by a PO. The mirror shakes when rideing. They are paintable, that could be fixed by a good painter without doing the whole fairirng I think. Watch Ebay for the mirror. Can't wait to get mine on the road! Getting closer! ;)

Yes the trim piece is removable for painting or replacement. Some type of rubbery glue it appears holds it on. You might want to try Strait Wings for those type parts, good used parts.

I also had to look. Some of the mirrors that are available are available with just the black mirror and the chrome front piece comes separate so you can stick it on or throw it on the shelf. Can't remember where I was looking but they are available without chrome applied. My left one had poor glass so I bought both with chrome just waiting now for delivery. Going to B. C. On the 7th would be nice to have both.. I do have a threaded hole in my right brake assembly for a thread in mirror I guess it would work in a pinch

I looked high and low for a stock right mirror. Found one for $20 on ebay (junk) Found one for $145 (think it was gold). After I ordered a pair of Emgo mirrors got a call for a $85 one. The Emgo mirrors are made nice, nice fit.($79 pair) The chrome piece came off one before I even got it on the bike. Two sided tape didnt hold to well. But super glue did. If you need stock left side they are everywhere. Got the Emgo, cause if the right gets broke again sometime may never find one. They seem to shake more than stock. If they bother to much may change the base plate that bolts to the fairing. Looks a tad thicker metal.

After I ordered mine I came across a wrecker just outside saskatoon a few miles said he has. But didn't see them I think I buy for Spare if priced fair. Tired of these dudes trying to sell their crap for higher than new price.

Just got my new set , same make just decided to get a new pair , now have a spare left ,, wish I had a spare right . but yea they do look oem and agree they are a tad lighter . just wonder if they will stay put or are they going to be always moving in the wind and vibrations ,, my oem ones were tight and even hard to move . time will tell but me thinks they will need constant adjusting ..

Mine just the glass itself is vibrating a little more. I have only put about 50 miles on them seem to be OK.

just got back from good trip to the just north of nelson B.C. from central Saskatchewan and the mirrors vibrate more than I hoped but it's hard to keep them in position , the darn things move constantly . finally got them in position so I can see a bit and that's the way they will be I guess .

Did you see that nut on the underneath side of the mounting bracelet. That should be to tighten up the mirror and keep from flopping around. Check your old one out, see what I mean. Or loosen that nut on your old mirror see if it flops around. Mine dont move at all & vibration isn't that bad.

I recently replaced one and the mirror glass vibrated and made a loud rattling sound.I ran a bead of clear silicone around three side, left button free for water to drain. Vibration and noise are much reduced.
