What pads to use for front brakes 84 aspencade

Post by choujack1 » Sun Aug 22, 2010 5:45 pm

OK to make a story short i've just ride my brother in law's 84 aspencade (it is first bike at 57 he is new to riding bikes ) he dropped the bike no dammage except for a bruised rib so i took back his bike to home and i felt poor breaking at front and low pedal at the rear as i rode a suzuki GS1100 1981 for 20 years and a Concours for 2 years i've found the GL's brake week compared to what i was used to.I have 3 questions 1:what kind of brake pads works good 2:is it a good idea to switch to braided lines or something like it ? 3: Can the rear brake pedal be moved up a bit.

Thanks by the way this website is excellent for GoldWings owners.

Not really a first choice bike for a new rider..

The pads for the 84-87 either Honda or EBC

EBC Brake Pads Goldwing as per EBC 2010 Catalog

FA69 3 sets Organic
FA69HH 3 sets Sintered

I use the organic.

If this bike is new to the owner possibly the calipers and rotors may be due for some overhaul. They don't last for ever.

Brake hoses are now 26 years old could be soft thus reducing braking power.

brake fluid probably need changing.

A web site specific for 1200's is http://www.gl1200goldwings.com
