Reinstalling to carbs to give it a test run without gas tank

Postby foreck » Tue Jul 19, 2016 1:29 pm

Hello all! I am ready to put my carbs back into my '87 wing, but id like to test them out. My gas tank needs to have the petcock seal replaced but im eager to start my bike up.

Where do I put fuel in? Before the fuel filter right? Im going to just use a funnel and some gas to start the bike up and make sure everything is ok. So, before the filter, after the filter? After the fuel pump? Thanks!

Same place it hooks to the fuel tank(the filter).Be careful...No funnel..no spilled fuel..no fire...Use a secured container beside the bike (same level as the bikes tank) and let the fuel pump siphon it into the system.

Ok cool thanks! I'll post here how it goes and I'll also take a picture of how I fit the '84 starter into the bike...pretty easy 10 minutes. Thanks again!

Ok Sorry for the loonnng wait. Murphy struck and took out all my vehicles and house AC at once :P

Ok

I cut notches in the 84 starter and screwed em in. Extremely tight and starts on the push of the button.
Carbs are leaking from the vacuum ports up top, I think its a float problem but this is my first time ever working on carbs so im not sure.

Proof that it turns the bike over and starts. The bike isnt primed, dont mind the long start. Ive been running it out of fuel daily :)
