Cheap Replacement Rear Shocks by Forsa

Postby kputer » Mon Jul 25, 2016 12:45 pm

Hi, my old Progressive rear shocks failed a couple weeks ago and actually came apart internally so my ride home was quite bouncy. I thought something was up when they lost air while I was putting the bike on the center stand. I refilled the air, rode to work OK, then on the way home I had no air in the rear and I could tell something was wrong. After removing them you can see in the picture they had both come apart inside, no damper effect. So I began researching starting here and found many discussions on Progressive's and rebuilds but no other alternatives, especially cheaper options. I found a pair of these Forsa shocks on eBay for $129 free shipping. only catch is that these don't have air but do come in an inch lower option too. I went with standard length. but for the price and not really needing added air for heavier loads I thought I'd give it a try. they arrived in two days and installed very easy. hardest part was taking stuff off to get the old ones out. I've only put a couple hundred miles on them so far with no passengers yet. they definitely ride better than the failed Progressive I'll update this when I get the chance to take some "lucky" lady for a test.

Thanks,
Keith

It's like I saw your reply before. :D

The new shocks are doing fine, I might twist the pressure all the way up and see how that feels. Still haven't rode with two yet. anyone think there is value in the old Progressive's I took off or should they go in the metal scrap box?

I'd be very grateful for a spring out of one of them to repair my broken shock if you are going to bin them :)

Hi ASP, I would be happy to send you one or both shocks if you're interested and willing to pay the shipping. send me a pm and we'll discuss.
thanks,
Keith
