Wiring Issue

Postby Davesmalltownusa » Thu Jul 28, 2016 3:18 pm

Hi, hoping anyone can help me out here, i removed my fork bridge on my 86 goldwing 1200 interstate because i had to remove the ignition switch because i lost my keys, Ive got a key made and am ready to reinstall however the connection from the sensor wire (underneath the grommet) has come undone and its down in the steering stem, any idea on the easiest way reconnect or even how to get to it. New to the site and appreciate any suggestions

Been there,done that.
You get slack by removing the rubber boot on the top and sliding it down the wire...pulling as much as you can from cluster of wiring and then stuffing it down the tube..There's usually just enough to hook the connector and get the steering angle sensor plugged back on.It's just a inch or two of wiring.

It ties into the turn signal caneler module.

Works like pendulum to ground, when leaned over or not leaned over. You may just have to remove the splash plate on the bottom of the fairing opening and remove the angle sensor to plug it back together, if you can't get from the top. That splash plate is my least favorite thing to remove and reinstall with the fairing installed. You will learn a whole new vocabulary...... I'ts much easier to R&R with the fairing off, not a great design idea.

Did you get it reassembled?
If this part is what were talking about, its the turn signal caneler system. It monitors wheel speed, time and the angle movement of the front wheel.(not the tilt of the bike) to "auto candle the turn signal.
