GL1200 LED Lights

Postby Rednaxs60 » Thu Sep 01, 2016 5:45 pm

Talked to Mike at Cyclemax today about LED lights for my '85 LTD. We discussed the 1500 LED figment for the early '88 1500. These will fit but the heat disappating filament out the end of the bulb needs a lot of clearance. Mike mentioned 3 to 4 inches. I will be looking into this for mine. He also mentioned that there are LED bulbs coming in specifically for the 1200s that have the aluminum heat sink on them that is a direct replacement, and these should be coming in soon.

Another interesting item he mentioned is that Kuryakin has announced it will be discontinuing support for the 1500 GWs so it can concentrate on the 1800s and F6s. Time to stock up on spares.

Cheers

I'd have to say that Kuryakin has already discontinued support for the GL1500. The GL1500 parts they have on their site are all generic bike parts, except for ONE GL1500-specific part: the chrome plastic spokes that fit on the front wheel.

WingAdmin - you mentioned in your review of the 1500 HID that it would be a fit for the 1200. If there is enough room at the back of the 1200 headlight, do you think the 1500 LED for the '88 to '97 1500 would be a good fit for a 1200? Just wondering.

I bought my LED headlight from superbrightleds

https://www.superbrightleds.com/moreinf ... ab/Reviews

It was super easy to install, required no modification to the bike. Is like day and night when compared to the old H4 halogen lamp.

Good prices and fast shipping.
