1987Asspy Kickstand interlocks.

Postby Gusbike1987 » Tue Sep 06, 2016 8:58 am

Are there interlocks on the kickstands of 87 Aspencades? I have several very good manuals but none show one. The reason for my question is, Will they affect indicators such as the neutral others while the stand is down?

Sadly , none of the GL1200's have any kickstand down interlocks..... and many of us would sorely like one !

The large space requires frame welding to bring the gap down to a gap that a magnetic switch can handle.

If you ever find an economical way of doing this ( switch , wiring , etc ) do let us know.
I am sure there would be a flurry of wiring and building .

In my case, I make sure the little rubber kick-up tip is always working , and go thru a mental check list before moving off .

( Bags shut, helmet chin strap, gloves , choke , kick stand up , Neutral, start-op , warm up , shoulder check , move off )

That reminds me, I took my 69 R69S BMW for a ride the other day.

1. Center stand up.
2. Back out of old shop ( going in new shop soon)
3. Put back on center stand
4. Get helmet, ear plugs, key, goggles. (No fairing)
5. Open side gate, push bike out
6.Center stand down
7.Close gate
8. Turn gas on
9. Get kick starter lever in position. 1-2 kicks usually
10. Get on bike/ off kick stand
11.DAMN FORGOT GLOVES
12.Center stand/gate again.

Thanks, TwoCams .... LOL
Fortunately , my regular specs are " photochromic ".... so not much to forget

and , hooray-for-me , I'm not yet at the " Step 11" step of your list .

Maybe next year .

This week someone gave me an article on " When is too old to be riding ? "

Wry smile .
