1986 GL 1200 Lighting nightmare

Postby wackoman » Fri Aug 27, 2010 1:06 am

I have a 1986 GL 1200 Aspencade.

Here is my problem. Left turn indicator on dash started coming on, flickering, dim. then in a few days the left turn signal would not work and the dash indicator for the left turn stayed on, no more flickering. I changed bulbs. Still nothing. I noticed both filaments in the left front bulb are lit up. I am lost here. No riding until lights are fixed.

Problem #2

Right rear saddlebag light, running light, will not come on except with turn signal. Turn the turn signal off and no light but turn signal works on right side.

Please help!

Thank you in advance!!

This sounds like a bad ground somewhere. Try running a jumper lead from the ground side of that bulb to a good known ground and see if the problem corrects itself. It may be the bulb socket or the ground wire itself.
