I believe the capacity is 5.9 gallons, and my light comes on with approximately a gallon left

Thanks for the response,Because I ran 180miles and the fuel gauge dropped into the red and still no light .I Pulled into a Gas station and filled up (took 4.4 gal.) thats why I was wondering about the fuel capasity and when the Light comes on. When I turn on the Ignation the fuel Light comes on ,Starts and goes out so Im Hopeing it works. Because I dont want to be Stranded on the side of the road.
Thanks Jrmetcalf

You're welcome, I have an '85 LTD, and of course it has the fuel warning light, as well as lcd readouts giving remaining fuel range etc, but when it indicates basically out of gas, and fuel light comes on, there is still approximately a gal left in the tank, but I have the same issue with the warning light on my 1500, and I actually carried a 1/2 gallon of gas in my trunk recently just to get it low enough to test the warning light, and it finally came on and it still had about a gallon of gas in it, but at least I know it works

Keep the shiny side up, and go ride!

Ben

I didn't run out today, but the light came on and I went another 10 miles at 70 mph. As I was on the t-pike and knew I couldn't go another 60 miles, I gassed up. It took 4.85 gallons. I don't know the capacity-but I know I was close.

I rode mine about 13 miles after the light came on - still had a gallon left.
