After Market Exaust system

Postby retired tech » Sat Oct 08, 2016 2:23 pm

Hi everyone, I'm close to finishing the restoration on my GL1200 Interstate. The original exhaust has rotted out, it"s unsaveable. I've heard too many complaints about the MAC's replacement exaust system. I'm not buying a used almost rusted out system. Has anyone bought either the Motad stainless exhaust system or the system Saber Brothers sells, It's stainless also and it's about $90 more than the Motad stainless system. It's a big investment so I'd like to make the correct choice the first time. Thanks in advance for any help you guys can give. Retired Tech

The Motad system is a good reliable system but with one caveat. The pipes are single not double wall. They turn a gold color after only a few miles. Saber Cycle will never get my business but I know absolutely nothing about their exhaust systems.

Hello Tom, Thank-you for the information about Motad exhaust systems. If you don't mind me asking what's your complaint about Saber Brothers?? I'm new to the world of Gold Wings and the parts suppliers for them. I don't want to deal with them if there is constantly problems. Thanks for your help and just one more question, are there any other exhaust company's that make a double wall complete system for 1985 gold wings GL1200?? Again thank-you

Retired

I just bought some mufflers from MacPerformance.com for my 1969 R69S BMW. They have an inside wall. Make exhaust for motorcycles and vehicles. I liked the price, almost 1/2 less than most. They have exhausts for the GL1200. They have been in business for 45 yrs. so im going to give them a try. :D Made in the USA
