I get a high pitch whirring noise from engine, it increases as you accelarate and it would appear to come from the hand side of engine any thoughts ??

Is this something that just started? It could be a belt tensioner on the timing belts, although that's more commonly described as a whine. Have you done any work on the bike recently?

Yes it could be described as a whine too that increases, I think it started a few weeks ago at the end of trip up to Skye, on way back when we made a stop I noticed the new noise.

I have a GL1200 Interstate with 50K miles. Never owned or ridden a GL before. Only put about 500 miles on it since purchased 6 mo ago.
I also hear a whine when accelerating. The faster I accelerate the louder the whine and it changes pich a little as rpm increase. Previous owner said that belts had been changed about 10K miles ago. Not sure if tensioners were changed.
Should I be worried about this/ Anything to check?

8-) Could be that the belts are too tight :?:
