Lisle rad cap wrench for 1200/1500

Postby SilverDave » Mon Mar 20, 2017 10:28 pm

The rad cap for the 1200's and 1500's is rather deep in the fairing , and could be hard to remove if it gets stuck or cross threaded ..
It is a cute 10 tooth pressure cap with two of the "teeth" being larger bars :

===========
Lisle makes a very cool yellow cap wrench for the GM series . Sadly it has 6 teeth , all equal ;

Does anyone know if Lisle makes a cap wrench for the Honda 1200/1500 type rad cap ??
( Or if anyone else make a wrench like this ? )

if so ...
Who sells it ? How Much ??

I just checked with a large rad shop AND with one of the biggest Honda motorcycle dealers in the area .
No one at all makes a rad cap wrench for this size honda rad cap
:(
Sounds like a possible aftermarket industry for someone ,
seeing as how the Wing rad caps are so deep in the fairing framework.

I eventually got mine off with some borrowed channel lock pliers that were almost straight , instead of bent ..... a real pain and I am not sure why it was jammed on...

I think it'd be something one could make after tracing the radiator caps grip pattern onto a piece of hard wood, routing out a recess that fit, and using a mortise chisel on the flip side to cut a receptacle for a 3/8 or 1/2 inch extension ... or make a handle of wood?

Maybe something like this wrench would work.
Googled and found this Sealy VS0461 Radiator Cap Wrench.
Similar to your channel locks, but looks a little better.
