Antifreeze leak?

Post by mfoster60 » Sun Feb 11, 2018 9:13 pm

Here in Michigan we have had a cold winter. My 1984 1200 Aspencade stays in an unheated barn for the winter. Was in the barn and noticed a puddle of antifreeze under the bike. What could this mean?

More than likely due to the cold the hoses may have shrunk the smallest amount, and the coolant has leaked out - pretty easy to identify - just look under the bike and trace the source - if required - tighten up the hose clamps.

Could be water pump.......as suggested the cold may have induced this. Try to look straight up from the puddle, might find a hanging drip.

This is fairly common. You can try to find the offending hose and tighten it, or wait until spring and warmer weather, and it will likely solve itself. :) As long as it's just a few drops, I'd probably not worry about it unless it continues after it warms up again.
