Post by walker70 » Tue Feb 20, 2018 11:52 am

Hi,I know I have posted about this already but I am still having a problem,I have wired it directly to the battery instead of running it through the acc fuse block and it still blow the fuses,I can't figure this one out, can't see any reason for this to be happening, thanks.

ummmmm, dumb question, but I can't see your wiring.

Are you sure that the positive and negative leads have not been reversed?
that will blow fuses in a hurry.

Is it a new outlet? Is there anything stuck inside the outlet?

I have seen quite a few phone chargers that were bad, blowing the fuse.

Question: Does it blow the fuse without the charger plugged in? Or does it work fine, and when you plug the charger in, it blows the fuse?

If it is the latter, then there are only really two possible options:

- The phone charger is bad. Try plugging it into your car. If it blows the fuse there too, then you have your answer.
- The cigarette lighter is wired backwards. The phone charger will usually have a diode across the input that presents a dead short if power is applied backwards, to protect the charger circuitry and intentionally blow the fuse of the circuit supplying it.
