Which Stator to buy?

Postby CTInspect » Tue Nov 02, 2010 12:13 pm

Has anyone dealt with:
"Welcome to Regulatorrectifier.com, America's leading supplier of high-quality regulator rectifiers, rev boxes, stators, and CDI units at reasonable prices for motorcycles and ATVs.
Regulatorrectifier.com is based in California and operated by a group of motorcycle enthusiasts with many years of experience in the Motorcycle and ATV replacement and performance parts industry."

"Excellent heavy duty replacement for your OEM stator on your Honda GL1200 GL 1200 Goldwing when it has failed or become damaged. This unit has about 20% more output than the original OEM unit. Power Output: 350W @ 4000RPM"
1984-1987 Honda GL1200 GL 1200 Goldwing Stator $134.99

Prices seem pretty good, I talked with one of there guys and he seems to know what he is talking about. Here is the link, if this works
http://www.regulatorrectifier.com/catalog/

I did mention one thing to him .... Why dont any of these suppliers/manufacturers make the unit with enough wire to get to the regulator, since everyone knows about the plugs you would think .........

Just wondering if that is based on experience or hearsay? Only because I have found more positive about them than negative. Even from 2 bike shops.

On the PoorBoy Conversion, I realize that most do not want to pay a shop to R&R the stator, but its almost winter, I have a backup touring bike, it really is not that bad pulling the motor .... and a shop did the last major work on the bike and now I wouldnt let them put air in my tires.
Most of all, I REALLY dont want to chop up my GoldWing.

I've had good success with stators from Rick's Motorsport Electrics (located in New Hampshire, I think). I actually prefer to install the Honda OEM stator but have a few customers that have insisted on something cheaper. The Ricks stator is made in the USA :D , has a 1 year warranty, and is around $140. Have installed 4 of these on GL1100's and GL1200's. All charging just fine so far(knock on wood).

I've never heard of regulatorrectifier.com so can't say anything specifically about them. If they do sell chinese crap (as AWLKRSN stated) then I would definitely stay away. If you decide to try them, let us know how it goes.

just my 2cents
Ernie
