Howdy.
Currently I own a Honda Silverwing GL500 Interstate. I'm buying a 1984 Goldwing Interstate . The engine is damaged and I have a new serviceable engine ready to swap. Any swapping tips would be great.
Thanks . Big Ed
P.S. This site is fantastic.

I think we need a bit more info, you state you have an 84 interstate with a dead engine, but what year/model is the replacement engine from? That will have a big impact on what we suggest you look out for.. Obviously you need to make sure the replacement engine runs and is in good order before fitting it. Before you fit the new engine in your bike, it might be the perfect time to replace/verify the alternator (less effort to do it whilst the engine is out of the bike).

Hi Gary.
It's an 84 goldwing Interstate. 1200. The newer engine (bike) is the same model and year and is being used a a parts bike. The engine is in good running order , however I will at least change the belts . I am trying to find out about the stator etc. I also want to address what I can do (replace) only when the engine is removed . My main worry is the drive shaft - motor union area ....will it slide out easily.
Thanks
