Triking a GL 1200

Post by cal3san » Mon Jan 24, 2011 12:08 pm

I have the opportunity to get a 85 GL 1200 with 35K miles on a rebuilt engine. But, the kicker is due to leg problems I'll have to put some more wheels on it. Has anyone put either a Voyager or Tow-Pac kit on a GL 1200? If you have, can you give me your thoughts on both the upside and downside of the venture?

Thanks, Cal

Last April I bought (off of E-Bay) and '86 GL1200 Aspy trike. I thought it was a home made trike kit, but I was told it is probably a very early Voyager type kit, where the owner has to put the metal over the frame. Mine has diamond plate. (I don't like the look, but...)
Anyway, i had never ridden a 2 -wheeler before so i thought a trike was the way to go. So, for me, it has been absolutely AWESOME!! My older riding buddy (76) has a trike and we have had many rides since last April. Most of them short (due to my inexperience), but we are looking forward to this season where I'll be venturing out farther and father, and longer and longer. So, from my little experience of last summer, I think you'll will have a blast on it. i know I did.
