What type of tool

Postby HALBUDD » Fri Apr 01, 2011 6:59 pm

I have a friend that has a small shop and does my tire work for me,he has a 1987 aspey engine that he is trying to put a new stater in but he needs a special tool to remove the large nut around drive shaft on the rear of the engine. It has to hold the drive splines while you turn the nut off. He is not sure of the size of socket that it would take for the nut, anybody have an idea what tool is or what size socket it takes . Thanks Hal

Hey Roger He told me that this is unique to this year bike and that it takes a special tool to remove it. P.S. did you get your final drive fixed yet ? Hal

Stator or Starter? I am confused, because reading this one, it sounds like you two are talking about two different items.

You are going to have to pull the engine for that one.

Or build yourself a PoorBoy Alternator setup to replace it.
