Is it possible that it's the wiring from the horn button? Does your horn work?

Or perhaps look at it this way: Being that the wires are obviously not connected to anything, which switch(es) on your left handgrip don't work?

I've got a 84 interstate,so it may not have this wiring, but I'll look tonight.I don't remember any push to cancel button(I just got the bike),just l/r turn,4 way, horn, etc.I can only go by the schematic. It shows the wires you describe going to plug c61 in the pix.I'd look for the plug described then follow back up the frame. It's on the left side.By the schematic and what you describe, the 2 wires must end up at the "turn signal self canceling unit"but it goes through 3 sets of connectors to get there.....3 hours later...
..
Thinking about this,I remember tracing a wiring problem on my 83.the wire was dead ended like yours. After many hours of back tracking from the canceling box,I found 1 connector under the 3lb fork weight was unplugged. This may not help, but it may take some digging into the guts to find it.

You mentioned that the spedo does not work.Well they are related, kinda. There is a wire from the instrument panel (white) that sends pulses to the canceling box. It's suppose to cancel the turn signal when you reach about 15 mph, regardless of the angle sensor. If the spedo sensor is bad(verify by volt testing)pull it off.Mine was mechanically damaged and repairable. The gr/blk is ground. The blk/brown is steady volts(I think about 5 vdc). The blk/yellow should go from 5vdc to 0 vdc as you rotate the tire. The voltages are approximate but you get the idea. The pulsing wire is what clocks the spedo.

The second plug down has 2 wires about a inch long with a push on connector on them.this plug is under the rubber cover between the faring and the left fork. The colors on mine are blue and green. The small cable is routed down the left handlebar,to the lower part of the triple tree, then back up to the plug.Right there it's plugged in.

Marlin_1 I have a 84 aspy also if I remember right the angel sensor should turn the signal off after a turn, the spedo turns them off after a certain amount of distance. I seem to have read this somewhere I think it works this way but I could be wrong. Hal

I found this in my clymer book the angle is at the bottom of the triple tree and it has what looks like three wires coming out of it. One green with white tracer, one white wire and one black with yellow tracer they go to the turn signal control unit. If you need a wire diagram or shop Manuel go to goldwing chrome web site they have free download manuals for your bike good ones. Hal

Apparently the interstate and aspencade use different switches and wiring,So the best I can advise is to (oh my God) pull the false tank, and start digging under the coils.Hopefully someone may have a aspencade and is willing to look for him and post pictures of the wires and connections. As a very last resort,You could locate the canceler box(under the ign coils) and pick up the 2 wires there and run them up to the dead wires to bypass the missing connectors.heres another schematics that may help. The blue and green wires on mine operate a turn signal switch release coil. The books do not show the location of any of the plugs.
