I need help with steering

Postby hap2 » Tue Sep 29, 2009 9:05 pm

Now I dunno if I put too much or not enuf, but the steering sure is tight now. I think I've got about 9 lbs in, but not sure. Does it work this way: The more air in it, the tighter the steering is? I don't think I blew the seals as I'm sure it still holds air. My goodness, I'm definitely not mechanically inclined as far as this bike goes.

You can always email me at ricc@shaw.ca or if u have msn messenger, I use that too.

No, the air pressure adjusts the firmness of the front suspension - how hard it rides over bumps. It has nothing to do at all with the steering.

Did you use the procedure in the workshop manual?

Actually I think all it was was the low/bad tire.

Check your tire pressure every time you ride.

Obviously you did have problems with low pressure for some reason or other.

How do you know the one time you don't check is the time you picked up a nail or other debris, and caused the pressure to go low?

A tire with low pressure heats up quickly, and heat exacerbates tire failure. On a car this can be inconvenient and mean changing a flat tire. On a motorcycle, particularly when it's the front tire, it can be fatal.
