Replacing a lost key

Postby TedChristopher » Wed May 04, 2011 10:07 am

Say guys, I've managed to lose both keys for my 1986 Gold Wing Interstate. Does anyone know what's involved with getting a replacement. There is no number I can see on the ignition itself, will a dealer be able to cut a key or order one from Honda using the VIN number?

I lost the key to everything but the ignition. I am being told that a local locksmith says they can make me a new one. All I have to do is bring one of the locks. He did say something about if he cuts one to the one lock, even though it is the same key, it may not fit the gas lock. I'll have to see.

Any good locksmith should be able to do this. I used to do it but got out of it YEARS ago.

I took a lock to a locksmith and he was able to cut me a new one. Honda gave me no help at all. They just said my bike was too old. (85) I expect that the ignition key could be made if you can take it out.

Our local honda dealer helped me several years ago with my 1100, I got the numbers from the back of the ignition shaft. I had to take the shaft out to get to the numbers. witch was fine because I was allready there.

It's not what you buy, it's what you build.
