TURN SIGNALS 84 ASPY

Postby WINGRIDER345 » Fri May 13, 2011 11:45 pm

Can any one tell me what's going on with my turn signals. I had the switch replaced over the winter. Everything was fine until a week ago, now the running lights are on but when you turn the signal on the light goes out in the front on the side you are signaling and no light in the back. I checked the bulbs all four are fine. :?: :(

The front light (which is always on, normally) has two filaments, a dim and a bright. The dim one is always on when running. When you switch the turn signal on, it turns the dim filament off, and flashes the bright one.

So this part is working correctly. The fact that the bright one isn't flashing, AND the rear light isn't flashing, means it's something with the flashing circuit that's not working. I'd check the flasher itself and see if it needs to be replaced.

Does one flasher control the turn signals and four-way signal? Where is the flasher on the '84 Aspy? :?: :|

Well I found the problem. As it turned out my horn stopped working too. It was a blown fuse under the left side fairing pocket. :D

Blown fuse is usually not the problem, just a symptom. I'd be trying to figure out why it blew.

Ok..along these lines of issues...how do I access the rear right turn signal (in the saddlebag) to change a bulb. I have ruled out all other issues and now am at a blown bulb. It flashes real fast on the front, and no flash on the rear...kind of like when you blow a bulb on a car. I have checked fuses- all are good, as well as flasher.

Inside the saddle bag at the back are two 10mm acorn nuts. Loosen those and the light assembly will come right out. If you have rails you will have to loosen them to allow enough room to get to the bulb. :)
