Radio replacement

Postby prowler-mc » Sat May 14, 2011 3:07 pm

I have a 1987 GL 1200 Interstate with a factory am/fm cassette. I want to upgrade the stereo with an aftermarket one that has either/both the aux plug and/or usb port so I can listen to my iPod. My existing stereo has quit working. What installation kit do I need? How can I protect the new unit from rain when riding? Any help would be great!

Thanks

Good question.

I would like the same information re: 1984 Interstate.

Thanks

In order for me to run any auxiliary audio units on my 1500 Aspencade I had to use a cassette adapter. If the present unit on your bike has a cassette player it may work for you too and they are relatively inexpensive.

we're the proud owners (2nd) of a 84 1200 Interstate

the unit on the bike is working....but would like to upgrade unit.

is there a replacement unit that (with some modifications to mounting) will fit?

i have an mp3 player & earbuds that i use, but my fiance' would like a better unit on the GW.

also, there is a booter-roo for reception, and this bike didn't have any antennas on it when we got it. Should there be? and if so, where would someone get some? and then where/how to mount?

thanks in advance guys
