On the first ride of this year on my 1985 GL 1200 my radio did not work and I discovered a mouse had built a nest inside the fairing. After cleaning out the mess I found the wires to the right speaker chewed off and touching each other. After replacing the damaged wires the radio/cassette still doesn't work. There is power to the unit, the clock works and the channel selection tunes down but not up. As I tuned to known stations the stereo symbol would show so I assume I am receiving a signal. I checked for voltage at the speaker and had 1.5 volt but no sound. The fuses are good. I cleaned and bent the contactors at the back of the radio for a better connection. What is my next move? Thanks Larry

I suspect you need to send it to sierra electronics. If the speaker wires had shorted together you probably destroyed the output amplifier. Sierra have a fixed charge to repair your radio and are about the only company that still work on these radios. If you do a search for sierra on this web site you will find many positive references to them. You have done all the things I can think off, I suspect something inside the radio has failed.
