87 GL1200 ASP Temp Sensor Location

Postby barker23 » Fri May 27, 2011 7:08 pm

Can anyone tell me where the temp sensor is located and easiest access to it? My gauge works intermittently now and am hoping its just a loose connection. It is the digital cluster and over normal bumps in the road it will come on and off, but wont stay on.
Thanks all for any help.

The temperature sensor is accessible when the rad has been removed.

the Aspy sensor is a two spade model one spade to ground and one spade to the gauge, unlike the Interstate which is a 1 pin type with the body going to ground.

I have the part number if needed,

You can trace the connection to a point behind the front forks on the left side, you can see it because one of the wires has a blue ID sleeve on it.

You will need to take of the false tank to access the connector
